Abstract:Phase-shift modulation,as a conventional modulation strategy for dual active bridge(DAB)
converters, has the drawback of excessive inductor current peak-to-peak value when the voltages on both sides are
mismatched. Therefore, based on an improved dual phase shift(IDPS)modulation combined with duty cycle
modulation,an asymmetric improved dual phase shift(AIDPS)modulation strategy was proposed. Firstly, the
working principle of AIDPS modulation was introduced, and the working modes, power transfer model, and
inductor current peak-to-peak value model were established. Then, the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker(KKT)conditions
were employed to derive the globally optimal modulation solution with the objective of minimizing the inductor
current peak-to-peak value. Finally,an experimental platform was built to verify the effectiveness of the proposed
modulation strategy in reducing inductor current peak-to-peak value and improve the efficiency of the converter.
